THE media has said The Kickstands are “a band
you should know”.
The band themselves say they are “rough and
improvised”. And isn’t that how all good rock
should be?
With over 1 000 local and international gigs
under their belts since 2009, this indie-at-heart
Durban-based duo of Gary Nixon and Rudi
Greyvenstein pride themselves on being able to
perform at intimate venues or major festivals and
showcase events like the Royal Show’s Royal Rock
concert.
The Kickstands have performed with and been
the supporting act for some of South Africa’s
top artists and bands, including Goldfish, Just
Jinger, Goodluck, Gangs of Ballet, Desmond
and the Tutus, Mango Groove, Shortstraw and
Arno Carstens, as well as international acts like
Germany’s Milky Chance.
Kick it with The Kickstands’ own brand of
acoustic rock at this year’s #RoyalRock, in the
Main Arena on Saturday, May 28.
