This easy to do DIY, or in this case Tea I Y, scarf will make the perfect gift for book lovers. The possibilities are as endless as the numbers of authors out there. For this scarf, I chose to do Jane Austen’s beloved classic, Pride & Prejudice. While this is the perfect gift to give, don’t feel bad for making one for yourself as well.

DIY Literary Style

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 White Scarf (either cotton or linen)

An old pan or bowl

Tea bags

Water

Liquid laundry detergent & softener

Iron-on transfer paper

Printer

First, find an image (or images) that you wish to use as well as your favorite literary quote (quotes). Make sure to mirror–most writing or photo editing has the ability to mirror images with just the click of a button— the images and quotes so that when you iron them on they will be correctly positioned and readable.

Print them out on Iron-on transfer paper and cut them out leaving a small border around them. I found the iron-on transfer paper works the best if you have allowed the print-outs to cure at least an hour before ironing them on to the surface.

Wash and dry scarf according to manufactures directions.

Find the color of tea that you wish to use. You may want to experiment on a piece of paper beforehand to get the color you desire.
