Bricks Cafe: Good as New
At last, Bricks is up and running again, and better than ever.
After several months of closure, the cafe officially opened
its doors again in February 2016 looking as good as new.
Following some damage from the earthquake that hit Nepal
in April 2015, this beautiful old heritage building had to close
for repairs. At the same time however, this was a very good
opportunity to make a few changes. A nice upper deck was
built at the back of the building, replacing the top floor that
was damaged in the quake.
Bricks Cafe is a restaurant and bar that is located in Kupondole,
Lalitpur, close to Patan and easily reachable from Thamel.
The original building was built during the Rana Era. Most of
the bricks have the inscriptions that show they were made
around 1903. Taking great pains to ensure renovations no
way destroyed the building’s integrity, you will find the place
warm and welcoming.
