WINTER WANDERINGS

WINTER WANDERINGS
Winter travel has a different personality. It wakes up early, packs a jersey, and insists on stopping for coffee with a mountain view. The roads feel quieter, the air a little sharper, and every destination somehow more cinematic. This issue of Rove SA celebrates exactly that kind of travel: slower, moodier, and infinitely more rewarding.
Inside these pages, we follow the extraordinary zebra migration across Botswana, escape to the rolling hills of the Southern Drakensberg, and chase warm waters through Mozambique, Madagascar and Saint Helena, because some of us refuse to allow winter to keep us indoors. We also venture into Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe, uncover hidden gems closer to home, and find plenty of reasons to keep the weekend bag permanently half-packed.
Along the way, there’ s practical inspiration too: clever travel gadgets, winter wellness trends, wildlife encounters, beautiful stays, road-trip ideas, and a few memorable places worth the long drive for just one meal.
As always, this issue is filled with giveaways, experiences and stories from the people shaping travel across Southern Africa in thoughtful, exciting and occasionally gloriously unpredictable ways.
Whether you’ re planning a full-blown adventure or simply pretending you’ re outdoorsy while reading this under a blanket, cup of coffee in hand, I hope these pages inspire your next escape.
Until next time,

Milou Staub
