Day Two: Strawberries, Mazes and Dinner in The Wilderness Day Two took us to Redberry Farm, and I insist that when someone tells you that you’ re going to a strawberry farm, that’ s exactly what you expect. But Redberry Farm is much more than that. There are activities everywhere, including a little electric train, aka The Redberry Express, that had me feeling five years old again. I was waiting for someone to hand me a lunchbox and announce nap time. But then came the strawberry picking.
That evening brought another surprise: dinner at Anew Hotel, but this time all the way out in Wilderness. Eating somewhere removed from the noise of everyday life feels special. No rush, no city chaos. Just good food, beautiful surroundings and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to put your phone away for five minutes. I said five. I probably managed three.
There is something strangely satisfying about picking your own fruit. Maybe it is because you know exactly where it came from, or because everything tastes better when you have done a little work for it. But my favourite part? The maze. That blasted thing had me questioning every decision I had made in life. I went in thinking,“ How difficult can this possibly be?” A few wrong turns later, and I was mentally auditioning for The Maze Runner. All I needed was someone shouting,“ Run Byron, run!” The difference was that in the movie they had an actual reason to panic. I was going deeper into the maze while pretending I knew exactly where I was going. Eventually, thankfully, I made it out.
