Hello Rovers,
I’ ve been on an incredible journey – personally witnessing the closest living relative to the Rau quagga through the Rau Quagga Project at Nuwejaars Wetlands. This initiative selectively breeds Plains zebra to resemble the extinct quagga, and they truly do look just like them! Discovering Elim and Struisbaai, too, were moments forever carved into my memory( See pg 15).
In this issue, we’ re also inspired by the ongoing work of Boundless Southern Africa, who ' ve opened up transfrontier conservation areas for exhilirating adventure.
There are a couple of exciting giveaways up for grabs, so make sure to enter them all, including the book competition below, generously offered by both publishing houses: Pan Macmillan South Africa and Penguin Random House South Africa. Here’ s to a season of adventure, discovery, and wild beauty.
Until next time,
Milou Staub
