RTB: Tell us about your inspiration, art style and processes.

EZ: I’m inspired by nature and in particular water as a body we both observe and become one with when we submerge ourselves in it. For me the vastness of it both comforts us yet also reminds us how small we are. My style is a blurred line between photorealism and realism. I generally begin with a feeling or an inspiration from my photography and use that as a starting point for either oil paintings or mixed media.

RTB: How hard is it to build a name in the industry?

EZ: Hard! Typically things that become successful require patience and diligence. Art is no different than other pursuits.

RTB: What type of art collectors collect your works?

EZ: I imagine those who value art in general and relate to the narrative of my imagery.

RTB: What would be a success for you?

EZ: Being able to continue doing what I love.

RTB: What sort of training and tuition did you undertake to become the artist you are today?

EZ: I am self-taught and painting has always been a lifelong and passionate pusuit of mine.

RTB: What advice would you give to aspiring artists?

EZ: Difficult to answer succintly, but have faith in your work. Your “success” won’t be overnight and both successes and failures are shackled to the subjectivity of whether one person likes your work or not. What you can control is your own voice and how you portray that in your work.
