Hot Water
This month RTB dips its toes into the Cape Town music scene to find out how hot the water really is.
Donovan Copley and his band Hot Water have been thumping out rhythms for quite some time on the music scene. With notable performances such as playing with UB40 and many others to add to their comprehensive list of achievements, this band is in it for the long haul. Hot Water is a blend of all that is South African and their music highlights everything from kwasa-kwasa to sakkie-sakkie, from folk to blues and even a touch of maskanda.
Hot Water entered the music scene in 2006 and have since released three studio albums. They have played at every major music festival in the country such as Kirstenbosch Gardens, Rocking the Daisies and Oppikoppi. They've also performed with musical legends like Hugh Masekela, Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove and FreshlyGround, as well as spontaneously hitting the stage with artists including Karen Zoid, David Kramer and Dizu Plaatjies.
Hot Water garnered attention from across the globe and they have performed in over 10 different countries, offering their distinctive take on music that is proudly South African. Their stage performances are up there with the best of them and their concerts offer both great visual performances coupled with excellent music.
