ob Macintosh was born in Johannesburg in 1949 and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona, where he has set up his studio. He is busy doing commissions for his clients in South Africa in between exhibitions. The desert, with its diversity of nature, has always inspired him and reminds him of the beautiful Karoo which he is famous for painting. Capturing the desert landscape and its wildlife, including its historical buildings, gives him the opportunity to capture the whole essence of this beautiful part of America.
Having grown up in Africa, it gave him the opportunity to paint wildlife at its best. Rob is a very diverse artist and enjoys painting the beauty around him.
HIs style falls into the photrorealist genre and his paintings reflect an exactitude that is common to this style of painting. His love for South Africa has led him back home many times to paint the beautiful scenes found in the Karoo as well as other scenic landscapes.
Rob has also travelled throughout the United States and the rest of Africa, capturing not only the wildlife, but the beauty of each country. Rob Macintosh has shown off his extremely talented creative abilities in exhibitions in many different countries.
He is part of the Society of Animal Artists in Denver, Colorado, and in 2014 was accepted into the Prestigious Oil Painters of America Society. His works form part of many collections around the world and he has been the recipient of numerous award.
