Thorfynns Restaurant
Monkey Valley Resort - Noordhoek
Thorfynns Restaurant in Noordhoek once again hosted our party of six hungry diners. The weather was crisp and beautiful and the scenic sea views echoed crashing waves, blue seas and white beaches. We arrived at around 12 o’clock and tucked into starters and drinks. The table ordered a combination of Goat’s Cheese Peppadew Poppers, Baby Calamari Tubes sautéed in chilli, paprika and coriander with steamed basmati rice and Fresh Saldanha black mussels steamed in white wine and doused with cream. My calamari was perfectly cooked and the rest of the table conveyed their appreciation of their starters. For main meals the table ordered the Seared Tuna Steak coated with sesame seeds which was cooked to perfection; Pan Fried Prawns, soy yakitori mayonnaise and garlic butter with steamed basmati and spring rolls; Grilled sirloin, with house basting, rustic fries, aioli and roasted vegetables; Beer battered fish and chips, with mixed salad, chips and tartar sauce; the Seafood Combo of prawns, hake and calamari with rice, steamed vegetables and tartar sauce; Beef saltimbocca, thin tender beef fillets wrapped in bacon, pan fried and butter braised with roasted vegetables and potato mash and a Long Beach pizza topped with bacon, feta, avocado, mushrooms, red peppers and garlic. The food was excellent. As mentioned earlier in the article, we arrived at around 12 o’clock and being the good patrons that we are, we only left at about 4pm. Thorfynns does that to you.
