What a weekend we had, nestled cozily in the Swartberg Mountains at the Onse Rus guesthouse. As its name suggests, Onse Rus is the perfect place to do just that -'Rus'. With its wooden floors and thatch roof, Onse Rus, which was built in 1852, has beautiful appeal and is infused with an old world farmhouse veneer - character and comfort personified. What a great way to spend 'time out' of the city.
We had booked at Onse Rus with the intention of kicking back, putting our feet up and doing as little as possible. Well, that did ... and did not happen. After a hearty breakfast served by the ever-friendly and attentive Lisa and her mom Di, we went on walkabout in Prince Albert and took in the many sights that attract visitors, from all over the world, to this idyllic little 'dorp'.
We are contemplating relocating just for the tranquility and of course the scrumptious farmhouse breakfasts at Onse Rus. You might ask, "But what is there to do in Prince Albert?". The answer to that question is going for walks in the veld, visiting the Saturday market, scenic drives, hiking, biking, arts, crafts, birdwatching, stargazing and many other exciting endeavours that are designed to release happy endorphins and ground you back to mother earth. They even have a cinema for those of you wanting to smooch in the back row!
The real answer to the question, "What is there to do in Prince Albert?" is actually "Go and see for yourself ... it'll change your life for the better!"
Prince Albert is just over 3 hours from Cape Town ... and it's worht the scenic drive.
