We asked Glennray a few questions to give us a better insight into what makes a photorealist tick.

RTB: What inspired you to begin your journey in the field of art?

GT: Being born into this thing called reality. I was amazed by the wonder of it all right from the start. I immediately felt a desire to share my wonderment. I never had to choose a career.

RTB: What advice can you give budding artists which will help them improve their skill and talent levels?

GT: Create a schedule for your art time, based on one’s individual situation. Stick with it. Persevere. Learning self discipline is of utmost importance.

RTB: Would you say practice makes perfect?

GT: I do not know if it will achieve perfection for everyone, but if you do not seriously apply yourself then you will not have a chance for perfection at all.

RTB Do you work in a single medium or many different mediums?

GT: I work primarily with oil paint applied with brushes to canvas,. However, I occasionally work in other mediums as well, such as pencil drawing and musical composition.

RTB: How long does it take you to finish one of your art works?

GT: I can never anticipate exactly how long a painting will take to complete. I work all day, every day, in the studio. On the average I would say it takes me from one to three months to complete a medium sized painting. Yet, I’ve worked on paintings off and on for years before completing them. Let me just say this: it takes a long time.

A big thanks to Glennray for being the featured artist for July and showcasing his wonderful talent.
