elp yourself to a Coke or grab a handful of Jelly Beans! Pedro Campos won't mind if you dip into one of his paintings. Yes, they are paintings, which display better clarity than my 18 megapixel camera! This artist is seriously talented. These hyper-realistic paintings are done by the artist Pedro Campos who uses oil on canvas as his medium to recreate still-life objects that spring to life in such a vivid and vibrant manner.
Campos has worked in a variety of creative environments such as decorating nightclubs, working for ad agencies and as an illustrator. He also studied art restoration which offered him a firm foundation for painting in oils which he only embarked on at the age of 30. Campos is clear in his recognition that the influence of his restoration work was a developmental stepping stone for his journey into hyper-realistic painting. "The restoration of lost areas in antique paintings forces you to seek excatitude in color: any personal intervention should go unnoticed." Campos tries to go beyond the photographic to create works of art that are brilliant in their clarity and aesthetic appeal.
"The work of the great masters throughout history is the best argument we have for realist painters to oppose the growing idea that only abstract painting is art. A simple stroll through the Louvre or the Prado should be enough for anyone to change his mind about that," says Campos.
