Analysis and Research
In the beginning of this program, the students watch movies. Great, landmarking, game changing films. After we’ re done watching the films we have to analyze them. We have to write down our thoughts and what we notice not only about the story the more of the camera angles or lighting that we enjoyed. Here is a piece written by Martha Robles, along with her photographs.
The Shining Film Analysis
! I honestly really did like the movie and the whole mental concept behind it. However I feel like the ending brought the intensity that the movie had through it down. That was probably the only thing I didn’ t really like about it.! I think that overall the music and sound overall is what actually made the movie. Not only did they capture room sound to an extent where it made it all real. But they also included music that captured the scene into something creepy. Honestly how crazy danny’ s dad was didn’ t scare me what creeped me out the most was the music and the room sound. I think my favorite scene that used room sound as well as separate music was the scene where danny is riding his little tricycle like the goon that he is and comes to a sudden stop and sees the room where I believe the little girls died. What I really liked is that before that scene happened it was set with another scene of him riding his tricycle. This set up the other scene for you to know that something was going to do down when he was riding his tricycle. I really loved the sound of Danny just riding dirty with everything in the hotel quiet and then him just stopping as soon as he realizes that room number. I think this is what set up the whole room scene with his dad also.
I also think that a lot of scenes that were used in the beginning allowed to get a hint of what would happen later in the film. I think that not only did it create suspense but also allowed us to create images in our mind of what would happen next and playing with our minds as viewers while we’ re watching a movie like this is always good. Like for example when the scene of danny’ s dad playing handball by himself in what seemed the main entrance of the hotel allowed me to know that a lot would happen in that room. It gave off the vibe that danny’ s dad would be there for a big part of that movie. Which was true. Another scene that set things up for me was the scene of the cook giving danny and his mom the tour and the fact that he knew that they called danny doc. With this I realized that he wasn’ t just the cook of the hotel but that we would play a bigger part in this all.! However I didn’ t like the end and the way that danny’ s dad went crazy. I think more detail could have been offered. Not only was him just going nuts not all tied up with everything else but it confused me on why danny’ s mom just let him treat her so bad without her realizing that something was seriously wrong with him. I also think that the ending could have tight up more loose ends. I think that also the title of the movie didn’ t make sense to me in the end. I thought that danny and him talking to his finger would be the central point for this movie, rather than it being danny’ s dad going crazy. Those two things played a big role in the movie completely however I honestly don’ t understand how these both tie together.
