Philippines July – August 2014
It has been over 12 months since RCNT International Services Maurie Schokman visited the Philippines; the
following is a summary of the trip:
Cararoo Foundation – www.cararoofoundation.com.au is now 8 years young and growing from strength to
strength. With 130 students attending Cararoo Nursery, government elementary and high school the program and sponsors remain strong. The recent success of 3 students attending college and one graduating
to take a position with one of Manilas top IT Companies ISphere Global speaks to the success of this program. EDUCATION is the key.
On a typhoon filled sky last weekend, with torrential rain flooding the squatter area we held a party to give
the children their new school bags, gifts donated by the Foreign Buyers Association Of The Phils. (an organisation set up by our previous Chair Person “Eli” who passed in 2012), lunch cooked by the parents in our
