ROSEWOOD SÃO PAULO
A Topography
of the
Times
Roots of the future
The landscape formed by buildings and streets
around Paulista Avenue tells the story of São Paulo. In
the beginning of the 20th century, this landscape was
transformed by the arrival of immigrants from all over
the world, contributing to the construction of the
developing metropolis, boosted by the effervescent
local industry. At the time, the city was evolving,
manifesting this metamorphosis in a modernity that
could be seen by its multicultural inhabitants, its
buildings and streets. In 1958, the Conjunto Nacional
was inaugurated on Paulista Avenue designed by
David Libeskind, and in 1968, the iconic MASP
was designed by Lina Bo Bardi and added to the
skyline. These emblematic buildings continue to be
landmarks of São Paulo’s cultural landscape and
architectural heritage. Cidade Matarazzo is joining
this prestigious list.
