ROOTED ON KIAWAH The Conservancy was founded in 1997 as a grassroots organization spearheaded by residents who sought to protect Kiawah’ s pristine natural habitat. After decades of successful conservation and community-based education efforts, we broadened our reach to our sister sea islands to boost our impact, all while continuing to actively work on Kiawah Island to ensure its natural integrity. To date, we have preserved 67 properties across 3371 acres of habitat on Kiawah, grounding our mission in a legacy of successful conservation.
