SOUTHEASTERN BLUEBERRY BEE
The southeastern blueberry bee is a solitary, ground-nesting species and one of the most important pollinators of native and cultivated blueberries. Unlike honeybees, it practices“ buzz pollination,” vibrating its flight muscles to shake loose pollen grains from flowers. Active only in early spring when blueberries bloom, this fuzzy little bee is highly efficient— just a few visits can fully pollinate a blossom, ensuring a healthy fruit crop.
