Sacrificed Slaves

Come along to the Western Cemetery in 264BC and see blood spilt - the first recorded gladiatorial combat.

Three pairs of slaves will fight to the death over the grave of Brutus Pera at the aristocrat's funeral games.

Generous Brutus has paid for this wonderful entertainment. All you have to do is turn up, cheer and say a few prayers for the dead man. The slaves will be armed and they will be fair fights.

BUT ONE OF EACH PAIR WILL DIE...

ONE OF EACH PAIR WILL WIN HIS FREEDOM!!!!

BLOODY GOOD SPORT FOR ALL THE FAMILY!

WIN A COCKEREL!!!

Noon every day on the village green a cockerel will be buried up to its neck. Boys up to the age of 14 will shoot at it with arrows at a distance of 9 paces. The one who kills the cock wins it!

Great archery practice for tomorrow's soldiers...

And great fun for everyone!

If you don't like violent games, here is the perfect event for you.

Every Sunday at 10am there will be acts using tame animals to perform tricks.

There will be:

- teams of tame panthers pulling chariots

- a lion releasing a live hare from its mouth after it had caught it

- a tiger licking the hand of its trainer

- elephants kneeling in the sand in front of the emperor

- elephants tracing Latin words in the sand with their trunks
