Spotlight on Tall Paul & Kristie There is no ‘power couple’ as endearing to us in the Trop Rock World as Tall Paul and his wife Kristie. Tall Paul first entered the Trop Rock scene in the late 90’s when he arranged some session work with St. Somewhere with the legendary ‘Fingers’ Taylor, the original Coral Reefer for Jimmy’s band.. With St. Somewhere being one of the most popular bands in Trop Rock at the time (even before “Trop Rock” was a term) and ‘Fingers’ being beloved by Parrot heads everywhere, Paul was elated to play even just a small role in these recordings. That small role eventually grew to become a major part of his career with St. Somewhere had him help co-write some of their classics such as “Deep In Your Heart”, “I Love My Job”, and several others plus had him become part of their touring band playing such monumental gigs as the very first Meeting Of the Minds held in Key West. While this was also going on, Paul continued to play his solo shows. On one fateful night, a group of young ladies came up to him asked if their friend could come up and sing with him. “Being the intelligent fellow” that he is, he of course said yes and he sang his first duet with Kristie. Several decades later, they are still singing together, both on and off-stage. Twenty two years in the making, they are finally releasing their first album simply titled “Covers.”. They’ve been married now for over 16 years and watching them onstage, you can still feel the magic that happened in that little student lounge at the University of Tennessee all those years ago. Be sure to experience their love and their talent all over Key West, especially at BeachFront Radio’s Welcome To Key West Party which Paul is hosting.
