Magnesia is a beautiful area situated in Central Greece. Two of the most beautiful mountains of Greece occuppy the biggest part of the area. Mt Pelion a very green mountain with deep forests, picturesque little villages, amazing beaches and nice limestone crags. Mt Othris is wore secluded and wild with less villages but scattered with amazing good quality limestone crags. The area has a history with pionner climbers during the decade of the 80's when the first lines were put up but lately the was a boom in the developmend of new crags most of which have a sport orientation. In Mt Peliom you will find short bouldery routes and crags really near or even above the sea so, the place is ideal for climbing holidays from May to October so that you can combine climbing, swimming and basking in the sun. In the summer you can climb but the hours that you can do that are limited to the ones after 5 in the afternoon. In Mt Pelion there are also a lot of activities you can do on your rest days. Hiking along the numerous gobbled paths that take you through deep beech forests is one of them. There are a lot of nice Taverns and guest houses all over the mountain but you can also free camp near most of the crags and buy your provisions from nearby villages. The local food is delicious as much as local wine varieties. There are 15 different crags in Mt Pelion with well secured routes ranging from 5a to 8b. Volos is the biggest city and capital of the area. The whole area has also a long ancient history and is rich in traditions.
