Introduction
This pictorial treatise is dedicated to the history
and legends surrounding the area now known as
Rockport Texas. Some of what’s here will be considered common knowledge by many of Rockport
residents. There’s also much that has never been
combined into a single volume before, at least not
about Rockport.
Rockport is the land of a gentle breeze and endless beautiful sunsets. In this book we will explore
Rockport’s fishing, plants, animals, a good dose of
lore along with some legends, some of which may
be a little hard to swallow.
Each year, thousands of people from all over the
U.S. and the rest of the world flock to our gorgeous
coastline to enjoy the sun, the cuisine and the festivities. And once you’ve been here, there’s a good
chance you’re going to come back. Like a migrating bird that flies south for the winter, many do and
often refer to Rockport as their second home.
We’re going to look at Rockport as a geological
spot beginning at an ancient time and watch it grow
forward into what it is today.
