TOMATO HORNWORM
(sp. Manduca quinquemaculata L.)
Tomato Hornworms consume only the vegetation
of the Solaencea Family or Nightshade family that
includes tomatoes, peppers, tobacco, potatoes, eggplant, etc. Of course, it’s actually a caterpillar, not a
worm, and it turns into a Hawk Moth.
TIGER MOTH
(sp. Apantesis phalerata)
It’s sometimes called the ‘Harnessed
Tiger Moth’ for the pattern on its
wings. Around here the caterpillars
are called ‘Fuzzy Wuzzies’. The term
‘Wooly Bears’ is most likely an import.
