Post-Paleo South Texas
And so, the Paleo and Pre-Paleo Indians lived, loved and died, and even today we walk
upon their dust - the dust of their once bleeding hearts. The Mammoths are gone and
so are the Giant Sloths and Camels and so on. But others would follow in their steps
as new natives flooded in from directions known and unknown.
After thousands of years of social development, both in the Americas and abroad, the
stage was finally set for the arrival of the frontier seeking Europeans. The aboriginal
world and the civilized world were destined for a head-on collision.
There’s been much debate over who (of European descent) arrived in the Americas
first, but it was certainly the Span ish who would make the greatest impact on the New
World and the coastal habitat that we now call Rockport Texas.
