ROCKNATION ISSUE 24 PAGE 13 Photo by Janette Sutherland Hello ROCK ALLIANCE and welcome to Rocknation. Congrats to your band on the release of your self titled album on Perris Records. How do you feel now your new CD will be released to radio, magazines and to the fans worldwide in 2017? We’re really pleased to have signed with Perris Records, a company that truly understands rock music. Like any artist, you write and record music to communicate with an audience. It’s a two way street, you can’t have one without the other. The more people you can reach the better. So it’s really cool to have a company like Perris to help expose our music through radio, magazine and other promotions. Please tell us who is in the band and how you had all these famous artist record with you for this release. Rock Alliance was created to allow like minded rock musicians to make classic rock and roll. Quite a few accomplished players took part in the sessions. We had mainstays that participated on all the tracks like myself (Stewart Sutherland) on bass, Eric Langlois on vocals and Marco Bressette on guitars. The three of us are experienced musicians having played in many bands and acts over the years. After we wrote and demoed the songs, we reached out to different musicians that are known throughout the rock world. The guys were very receptive and gave us some really tight performances. It was a pleasure to work with Kenny Aronoff, Jason Pierce, John Rabbit Bundrick, Chris Sutherland, Chris Moore and Phil Robertson. Having different people contribute on every track give each song a different groove. We had a blast. Please name some of the tracks and what they are about. The tracks on the album are all straight ahead rock songs. Rock And Roll Resurrection sets the tone and it’s exactly what it’s title implies. It’s about bringing rock music back to the forefront. Stop following American Idol and instead follow the path our rock gods have set before us. Let the music do the talking. Bad News Travels Fast is a nod to classic blues-tinged rock you can find on an early Whitesnake album. 3 Men 3 Horses rides a cool Kenny Aronoff groove all the way to the next sunset. Radio is a soaring tribute to a medium that was the number one source to discover new music. There are heavier tracks like Kick and Bring The Fight. Overall, I think the album is pretty diversified. Your Production was handled by the Juno Award winning duo of Darren Jeter Magierowski and Jill Zimmerman. Please tell us about that experience. Working with Darren and Jill at Jukasa Studios was a treat. The studio is a world class facility. The album was recorded on the SSL8000G console that was located at Abbey Road Studios in the U.K. There’s some sweet magic in that board and Darren and Jill know how to wield it. Darren is great at coaxing out your best performance and both he and Jill are perfect at pacing the sessions to allow for some excellent creativity. We look forward to working with them again. You had some success with releasing some singles to radio already, please tell us about that. We’ve released three singles to radio. Rock And Roll Resurrection spent a good part of last year as one of the most played rock songs on digital radio. Our song Radio is getting some airplay on both sides of the Atlantic and hit the charts as one the top played independent rock songs on some U.K. stations. We’re looking forward to a more coordinated promotion with Perris Records to help get the songs more airplay. If you had to tell someone what your music sounded like, what bands would you mention? That’s probably the toughest question someone can ask us. You definitely don’t want to compare yourself to your main influences because you tend to elevate them to some higher level. I’d like to say we sound like ourselves. That’s what you strive for as an artist, to have your own voice and sound. But I guess you can’t help emulating your influences a little. So there might be a hint of G n’ R, Motley Crue and Van Halen sprinkled in our sound. What plans do you have for 2017? We’re super stoked for 2017! We look forward to the official Perris release of album in April. We’re also putting together a killer line up to play some shows. Thank you for taking time for this interview any last words to the fans? We want the fans to know that rock and roll is not dead. Together we can rise from the ashes of formulated music and help bring rock back to the top! Cheers! Photo by Stan Wesley Photo by Mark Prior Photo by Stan Wesley
