ROCKNATION ISSUE 22 If you had to tell someone what your band sounded like, what bands would you mention? Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson’s solo work, melodic metal from the late 90’s and early 00’s, and probably some 80s hard rock like TNT, Europe and Asia. But most of all we work really hard on creating something unique out of our influences, because we want Keldian’s sci-fi metal to sound unlike anything else that people have heard. We want the space vibe, the groovy riffs, and obviously the soaring chorus to be our hallmarks. What is some of the music you listen to now? Chris: I actually listen much more to classical music and movie scores than rock music, to be honest. And if I want a shot of rock I tend to go back in time and listen to Alice Cooper, KISS or Black Sabbath. The Sabbath records with Dio are still mindblowing more than 30 years later. Arild: On my iPod playlist right now: The new a-ha album, some early Toto songs, Aqua by Asia, a little Luca Turilli and few tracks by Exodus. At home I’m really into music from movies and ambient stuff. Hans Zimmer, John Murphy, David Helping & Jon Jenkins, M83 and Michael Cassette are amongst my favourites. What plans do you have for 2016? We have started writing new music, and we’re going to continue writing songs in 2016. Hopefully we can get a great batch of tunes together and settle into recording a new album next year. There is certainly more music on the horizon. Thank you for taking time for this interview and last words to the fans? Thanks for sticking with us! It’s a great feeling to get the kind of support that the fans show, and now we’re also really happy to be back with Perris Records and offering physical CDs for those of you who still kick it old school. We try our best to be available and productive and honest, and it’s a real privilege to share our music with you. Rock on!
