From the indie window

Looking back to the first 4 months of the year 2010, I couldn’t help myself shout out loud: “Heck, it’s been an awesome start of the year!” While the second semester of last year I was rushing from one concert into another, now I barely find time to grab and enjoy all these great works. There have been lots of noticeable albums since 2010 started but let’s have a look at my pick.

Hadouken! - For The Masses (January 25, 2010)

Well, let’s start from the hardest “stuff”. Prepare for dirty grindie. Yes, this is Hadouken! The band kept the old sound but “For The Masses” seems more “rocky” to me than the last one. But oh, don’t mind the minor changes, they are still good in new rave. By the way, the new single Mic Check has just released on April 12.

Massive Attack - Heligoland (February 8, 2010)

This was perhaps the most wanted record of the year. It was like a clockwork bomb ready to explode on the date of its release. And it actually did. It just blew away everybody’s minds. It was beautiful, exquisite. Featuring Martina Topley-Bird, Tunde Adebimpe, Horace Andy, Guy Garvey, Hope Sandoval and Damon Albarn: saying this is a collection of great vocals is not enough. It was simply genius. Massive Attack did it again.

The Courteeners - Falcon (February 22, 2010)

Maybe most of you haven’t noticed this record in the big pile. But oh, I have to say, it surprised me. It’s not genius, but it’s so damn great indie pop! England did it again! “You Overdid It Doll” just took away my breath, and yes, Morrissey couldn’t be wrong, they deserve attention.
