Since 1968, Purple has been one of the pillars of the music we know at present time; they have influenced so many bands and musicians. We could find the spectacular voice of Ian Gillian or the impressive riffs of Ritchie Blackmore, the majesty of Jon Lord, who is in our dearest memory(†). As time passed by the original line-up has changed, some albums were better than others, but we can’ t deny the inheritance they have left through those years.
Now they return with Now What?! The nineteenth album in their discography which starts with A Simple Song, where we could listen the bass and the guitar welcoming us in a soft and peaceful moment; Ian Gillian shows his experience, despite the changes in his voice through these years, he presents it strong and clear as usual. A quick and surprise change in the rhythm makes the song stronger and turns it into something different. Don Airey’ s interpretation in the keyboards is impeccable and I may say is a well deserved tribute to Master Lord.
