After some EPIC song the band grants us some rest with a very oriental
“The Fifth Guardian – Interlude”. The instruments used here create a very
Japanese and relaxing theme that transports us to another dimension,
without a doubt, and the Buda on the cover comes back to my mind while
we’re listening to it. What comes after a very relaxing interlude? Well,
indeed, one hell of a song.
Are you ready to fell of the chair? “Chemical Insomnia” arrives. The
guitars are super-fast, the best ones we’ve heard so far and they unite
with some violins and orchestral elements. Simone shines better than
ever on this song, when you hear it you’ll understand why. The choirs
lead to a very sweet and melancholic chorus where Simone won’t leave
you indifferent, her voice on this record is outstanding with a lyricaloperatic fuse. The best part of the song is the one towards the end where
Simone and the choirs end up screaming a very high note that will lead
to a very symphonic bridge. Mark appears to sing for a short time along
with Simone.
“Reverence – Living in The Heart” begins with a very orchestral
introduction that will present some fast guitars, as in the previous song.
On this case, the song is a little more relaxed because the choirs take
control and are present towards all the chorus while Simone will sing
on the verses. To the ones that don’t love choirs you’re going to need to
start loving them since they’re everywhere. It has a very lineal structure
and shines less than the others until the guitar solo towards the end. It
is a good song where as in “Unchain Utopia” the band leaves the choirs
taking the power of the song and making it more epic.
