Epica The Quantum Enigma David Juárez The review of this month comes by the hand of my favorite band EPICA. We’ve had the chance to listen to their upcoming studio album “The Quantum Enigma”. We begin with the first song that serves as an “Intro”, as we’re already used to, with “Originem”. Orchestral parts everywhere including some violins, a delicate piano and a massive and melancholic choir will make of it what perhaps will be EPICA’s best intro up to date with a length of more than 2 minutes that will not leave anyone indifferent. When we least expect it a very fast guitar kicks in, “The Second Stone” begins and some choirs enter the scene; in a matter of seconds Simone starts singing in a very fast but sweet way at the same time. The song has one peculiarity, the verses are fast but the chorus is quite slow “As time goes by I hide the truth…” Mark appears towards the end of the song but this time is Simone and the choirs who are leading the song. I must highlight that this album is very different from their previous one and even than their others in their discography. It’s just a whole symphonic odyssey where there’s infinity of choirs in every song and Mark’s voice is not so present like it was before. “The Essence of Silence” is one if my personal favorites and the chosen one to be the first single of the record, without a doubt 12
