WRITER’S STATEMENT
As writer/directors, setting the story in a post apocalyptic future world was instrumental in defining the themes and the characters for us. Will we as a society soon find ourselves living in a similar world? Are we headed for self-destruction? Does human nature need the vices of conflict, fear and power struggles to flourish? What will we fall back on when the systems we know are suddenly gone? Who will we become? We as artists frequently ask ourselves these questions. Declining currencies, an elite group of power brokers, the decimation of personal freedoms and government intervention are current and complex topics that resound with us and influenced the writing. In contrast the themes that drive Rock Bottom are simple, powerful and timeless: righting a wrong, good versus evil, vengeance, justice and love. Rock Bottom at its core is a story of two brothers. One our hero, one our villain. Each analogous to the different sides of society, the different sides of human nature and the war between them.
