Legal & Business Affairs: Kathy Avrich-Johnson Kathy Avrich-Johnson is a veteran entertainment lawyer, producer and executive specializing in production financing, management, consulting and program design. Founding executive director of the Association of Canadian Film and Television Producers, (now merged into the CFTPA), Kathy helped grow the organization from a start up to a vital voice for entrepreneurial entertainment producers. From 1990-97 She was Vice President of Production, Finance and Business Affairs at Norstar Filmed Entertainment. There, Kathy shepherded 16 features and 2 MOWs from development through production and distribution. Following her stint at NorStar, she co-Executive produced the Canadian UK co-production feature film Regeneration which was nominated for Genie and BAFTA awards for best picture.Kathy Executive Produced several feature dramas and docs including Colleen Murphy’s Desire (2000) a German, Canada co-pro and Feature Doc Dying at Grace (2003) both which premiered at TIFF. Currently Kathy is Producing the wildly successful series Rookie Blue (in it’s 4th season) for Global TV and ABC in the US and the first season of Saving Hope for CTV & NBC stateside.
