How To Build A Robot Part 1
Desgin your robot around your Weapon
Where do i start?
When it comes to building a robot the question always gets asked, where do I start? We recommend that you start with your weapon of choice, there's no point in designing a box and then trying to figure out where your weapon is going to go, whether it be a axe, spinner, flipper or any other weapon you can think of. Design your robot around that weapon and how it can inflect the most damage, so step one pick your weapon, (Robots don’t need weapons Roadblock and Tornado where Robotwars champions and never had a weapon, Tornado kinda did but).
Once you've picked your weapon design the look and shape of your robot, this isn’t a final design just a sketch to give you an idea of
what the end product would be like things may change depending on budget and components. Remember you don’t need fancy equipment to do this, no need for CAD designs although they will help, a simple pencil and paper will do. Remember anyone can build a robot and anything is possible.
Ok Ok.... I hear you, that's the easy part, yes! but what actually goes into making and assembling a robot? There's are a lot of things that a robot must have before it can be complete, like a safety link, something you would of heard being mentioned a lot in this series, we'll talk about that more later on in this magazine series.
So in the next part we're going to talk about internals of a robot, what you need, the different options and where to buy the parts. So until then start drawing and brain storming your robots weapon design and name.
