Backpacking Gear
For backpacking trips in Colorado high country, be prepared by packing protective rain gear. Downpours can last for hours, and are accompanied by fierce wind gusts and hair-raising lighting. If conditions are right, storms can dump several inches of ‘summer snow’. For this reason, a 3-season tent, rain jacket, weather-proof boots, and related gear are essential. See my Backpack and Sleeping Bag Guide for more information.
