Road Less Taken 1 | Page 20

I just finished the Harry Potter series. Fellow classmates have been telling me to read it for years now but I always seemed to be reading something else. It was a whole lot easier with a smaller selection of books to choose from at my new school anyways. I found it highly enjoyable and always liked repeating the spells over and over inside of my head. The only problem I had with it was that I had already seen most of the movies so the first about three books were exactly like the movies other then books four through seven had more complicated plots that a movie just can’t contain.

Surprisingly I learned quite a lot about the Harry Potter franchise that I didn’t know before. I learned that Sirius Black and Lupin are actually good guys instead of bad. Even though I watched “A Prisoner of Azkaban” I thought they were bad guys because of the fight scene near the end when Lupin can’t control himself and turns into a werewolf and Sirius tries to keep Lupin from hurting Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I also didn’t know that Sirius was Harry’s godfather. I must have just missed these little important pieces in the movie that are harder to miss in the books.

The most confusing book was probably The Deathly Hallows because how J.K. Rowling was trying to make it last longer because Dumbledore wanted Harry’s quest to last a certain length and such. All the twists and turns were what made it confusing. It did make more sense after you had read the whole thing but what book doesn’t.

My favorite books out of the series were The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Order of the Phoenix. I think I liked The Prisoner of Azkaban so much because it was pretty much the first book that wasn’t exactly like the movie either that or I just missed stuff in the movie. This point in the series hooked me. The Order of the Phoenix was really good because I appreciated the whole Dumbledore’s Army thing and rebelling for what you believe in.

My least favorite book was probably The Sorcerer’s Stone. It wasn’t bad by any means but it was pretty much identical to the movie and of course I’ve already seen the movies. If it wasn’t for that I would have liked them all without being able to give a least favorite.
