RULES
8 General
1 . Access to the regatta venue is via Nuffield Road from Settlers Way or from the Old Bridge via Pontoon Road .
2 . All persons are required to sign-in at the entrance where your temperature will be taken daily . A R20.00 entrance fee will be charged per day .
3 . Any person displaying flu-like symptoms or who has COVID may not enter the ELBA premises and is expected to self-isolate .
4 . All persons entering the ELBA premises ( including officials , helpers , participants , coaches , staff and spectators ) must wear a wristband confirming that they have registered at the entrance , where the wrist band will be issued .
5 . Once inside the ELBA premises , persons are expected to adhere to Government Regulations applicable at the time of the event , such as wearing of face masks and adhering to social distancing .
6 . A Health , Safety and Covid officer will be on-site to monitor compliance . All coaches are expected to manage and monitor compliance of their own crews .
7 . Qualified lifeguards will be on the water – if someone is in danger , signal for help or notify the Regatta Control .
8 . By entering the East London Boating Association ( ELBA ) premises and Buffalo Regatta venue , you agree to adhere to the ELBA safety rules and guidelines , and declare that you accept being on the premises at your own risk . Furthermore , you indemnify ELBA and its organisers , sponsors and officials against any claim of whatsoever nature , and however arising , which may result from any activity on these premises .
9 . All persons who enter the ELBA premises are required to act responsibly and to do everything reasonably expected to prevent injuries to themselves and to other persons , and to prevent loss to equipment .
10 . Should COVID regulations allow alcohol sales , then our Leander Bar located near the cloakrooms in the Clubhouse and our Salty Dog Gin Bar on the roof terrace will be available to those over the age of 18 years only and non-scholars . Current Department of Sports , Arts and Culture Covid regulations ( Government Gazette 45329 dated 15 Oct 2021 ) stipulate that alcohol may not be consumed at sporting events .
9 The Buffalo Café
1 . THE BUFFALO CAFE will be serving delicious meals and refreshments during the Buffalo Regatta , and individual orders can be placed per person on the day .
2 . We urge clubs or schools to pre-order your breakfast and lunch meal packs to ensure that food may be prepared and packaged in compliance with COVID safety . Please see the menu and preorder Google Form on pages 24-25 . Payment instructions will be included in the Google form .
3 . All pre-order emailed must be accompanied by proof of payment .
4 . If you have any queries prior to the start of the RMB Buffalo Regatta , please do not hesitate to contact : Annette Connellan 082 787 8289 . If there are any queries during the event , please approach the staff at The Buffalo Café directly .
5 . Alternatively , group pre-orders can be handed to The Buffalo Café on-site at the Buffalo Regatta , providing the order is received 24 hours prior to collection .
10 Indemnity
1 . The entering of your school , participants or members onto the premises of ELBA serves as an acceptance of indemnity in this regatta , namely that you declare that you accept your own risk and indemnify the Regatta Organisers , Sponsors and Officials of this rowing regatta against any claim of whatsoever nature and howsoever arising , which may result from your school ’ s , club ’ s and / or your rowers ’ participation .
2 . The entering of your school or members further serves that the athlete placed onto the water has passed the required water safety testing and that the responsibility of such competency has been passed by the school , club and coached concerned .
3 . All entries must comprise competent swimmers who must have successfully completed the Sculling Test in terms of Rule 2.1.2 of the Rules of Racing , 28 July 2018 Edition .
