FROM THE CLUB

It is one of my greatest annual pleasures to welcome every participant and spectator to the RM Sotheby’ s Veteran Car Run. For 2025 we’ re off to Brighton once more under our own steam- in some cases, quite literally … With pneumatic tyres( if you have them) pumped up, ancient pistons pounding and, of course, your fingers crossed, this event – this marvellous institution – rides again!

It is a matter of great pride that the Royal Automobile Club is the organiser of the Run. The Club took the decision to bring the planning and co-ordination of the Run back in-house a few years ago, in close collaboration with the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain. Our Motoring Team have entirely vindicated that decision and do a wonderful job of ensuring this grand tradition remains the same in a constantly changing world.
None of this, however, would be possible without the support of a great many experienced volunteers, including our fantastic marshals and recovery teams, who make sure every eventuality is covered. They all deserve our heartfelt thanks. As do all our sponsorship partners. The Veteran Car Run may be something of a quirky endurance test, but it’ s never a race. Safety is paramount. Simply finishing the course is a fine achievement for many of these gloriously ancient machines.
I hope you have a wonderfully memorable day.

FROM RM SOTHEBY’ S

I

’ m absolutely delighted that RM Sotheby’ s has renewed its sponsorship of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run – an event that has brought me, and many of you, immeasurable joy over the years. From the excitement of misty mornings in Hyde Park to the thrill of cresting Ditchling Beacon, the run offers memories that will last a lifetime, whether you take part as a driver, passenger, or simply a spectator.
This year’ s event marks 129 years since the first Emancipation Run, and while we inevitably look to the past, make no mistake – nothing does more for the future of our hobby. Sharing the magic of these machines with the wider public isn’ t only fantastic fun, it’ s vital to fostering an interest from the next generation, welcoming new enthusiasts into the fold, and advocating for the rights of the historic motorist. You should all be proud of the part you play not only in preserving history, but in bringing it to life.
Thanks too to the Royal Automobile Club, for widening the appeal even further with its superb St James’ s Motoring Spectacle and unmissable programme of Motoring Week events.
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable journey to Brighton, and please do come see us at the finish line.
