It is my great privilege to welcome you to the world ’ s longest-running motoring event and great British tradition : the RM Sotheby ’ s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run .
This year ’ s Run celebrates 120 years of the Ladies ’ Automobile Club , and also the 125th anniversaries of two world-famous car marques , Fiat and Renault .
And as if that ’ s not enough , Pall Mall will come alive with the inaugural St James ’ s Motoring Spectacle on Saturday , 2 November , championing all things motoring and showcasing the past , present and future on wheels . A perfect day out for all the family , and it ’ s absolutely free to attend .
I must thank all of our participants and partners , especially our title partner RM Sotheby ’ s , and the Run ’ s Steering Group ably led by its chairman Ben Cussons . Their support alongside that of our many volunteers is what allows this event to take place each year without fail .
We hugely appreciate the efforts of every single individual involved in this unique annual gathering , and I look forward to seeing you all at the finish line for refreshments and anecdotes .

For me personally , it is an absolute delight to be writing this year ’ s welcome from RM Sotheby ’ s . After a lifetime in the veteran car world , I ’ m fortunate enough to know many of you personally , and this is an event with which I have a very long association , as a sponsor , as a participant , and as a pure enthusiast .
RM Sotheby ’ s is enormously proud to be the title sponsor of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run , and with each passing year we become more integrated with this fabulous event , sharing in the unbridled joy that it brings to both participants and the thousands of spectators who line the route .
As I write this , it ’ s impossible to know what the weather has in store , and obviously we ’ re all hoping for blue November skies and bright sunshine . If it happens to rain , we ’ ll all plough on with equal enthusiasm , and that ’ s what makes all of you such an incredible group of enthusiasts keen to uphold the tradition !
