PALL MALL COMES ALIVE FOR ALL THINGS MOTORING
This year sees the inaugural staging of the St James ’ s Motoring Spectacle on Pall Mall , and while it includes many of the Veteran Car Run stars , it also showcases the present and future on wheels – the perfect day ’ s motoring for all the family .
The brand-new St James ’ s Motoring Spectacle , on Saturday 2 November , is the natural successor to the St James ’ s International Concours , and brings an all-new innovative motoring event to central London .
It will be organised by the Royal Automobile Club , whose historic clubhouse sits proudly on Pall Mall , as it has done on this famous London thoroughfare for more than 110 years .
The mission started straightforwardly enough : the Club simply wanted to find a new arena for the Veteran Car Concours – the largest veteran concours in the world , a day before they depart Hyde Park for the south coast .
Plans rapidly gained momentum because of the Club ’ s activities during its London Motor Week – a series of events and presentations that both celebrate traditions , but also encourage future innovation .
Once Westminster Council gave its kind consent to close Pall Mall off to all through-traffic , the scene was set : the new Motoring Spectacle would now have the space and scope to host an impressive , entertaining and educational display that spans the entire history of motoring up to the present day – and beyond , with
