Formerly known as the Krupp Diamond, Taylor received this stunning 33-carat, D color, and near internally flawless stone as a gift from her husband, Richard Burton.
The diamond gets its former name from actress Vera Krupp, the previous owner. She was the second wife of Alfried Krupp of the famous Krupp family, the industrial giants of Germany. The family was one of the world ' s principal steel makers and arms manufacturers until the end of World War II. On the night of April 10, 1959, while Vera Krupp and her farm foreman were having dinner, three men rang the doorbell and offered to clear her driveway.
