WELCOME FROM ARMA Welcome W elcome to the 2018 Summit edition of RM Magazine It is an absolute delight to share this issue with you, which features some incredible content from our much-valued partners who all share extremely useful insights. It is also my pleasure to feature some wonderful leaders in revenue management, Scott Nicholas, Director of Revenue – Grand Hyatt Melbourne and Roma Patel, National Reservations and Yield Manager – Sudima Hotels and Resorts. Both Scott and Roma were recognised in 2018 as Revenue Management Award winners. In addition, I am grateful to have the support of leading industry experts in revenue management and business contribute their time and knowledge at this year’s Summit and include Andrea Staines, Adam Schwab, Mark Bunting and Jason Carley – be sure to check out the BIO’s and interesting entrepreneurial stories in this issue! ARMA has had exceptional growth in 2018 as we continue to support industry with up-skilling in the discipline of RM. Our goal is to provide a consistent base-level of education through our online foundations program – Think-Change- Grow ® supported by ARMA trainers and to provide educational pathways for employers in this critical discipline. The – Think-Change-Grow ® program – the first of its kind for industry – has been available for over four years, is interactive engaging learning supported 7 days a week by revenue management specialists and designed to appeal to all sectors of our diverse accommodation industry. ARMA is the preferred supplier of revenue management education for the Accommodation Association of Australia , Tourism Industry Aotearoa whose members receive educational benefits to up- skill and get certified and our programs are endorsed by Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA). In 2018 ARMA also introduced our independent face to face workshop adapted as an online “Virtual” workshop to meet the needs of industry and offer more targeted specialised learning support. The ARMA office has been a buzz with energy as we finalised the agenda for your 2018 APAC Revenue Management Summit. With bookings well ahead of traditional industry lead times, early signs indicated this year’s Summit would grow and it has! Both the 2016 & 2017 Summit delivered tangible revenue outcomes for many attendees and partners post the event with a strong focus on education and profit results. The 2018 Summit is themed “Unite & Prosper”. The 2018 Summit is guaranteed to be packed with value, knowledge and targeted networking. We are delighted to have the continued support of the AAoA, TIA, CCIA NSW and TAA, our media partners HM and ResortNews and this event would not be possible without all of our exceptional partners especially our platinum partners IDeaS Revenue Solutions, Sabre, Expedia and STAAH. I am absolutely thrilled by the amount of support the Summit has attracted from all our partners – thank you, this support greatly assists ARMA in making this education-focused niche event come to life. ARMA firmly believes that providing an annual RM discussion platform accessible and relevant to all sectors of industry is crucial for our survival and progression in this space. This issue also features the line-up of nominees at this year’s HM Awards held for the first time at the ICC in Sydney. There is some incredible talent in this year’s list of finalists for the Revenue Management Associate Award, and ARMA is proud to continue its support for this award. Good luck to all the finalists! Today, there are many organisations that value the skill set of our revenue managers. ARMA is passionate about ensuring succession planning for this critical role is high on industry’s agenda. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our ever expanding ARMA community of trained professionals and RM-focused organisations that are already providing quality, independent RM education for their people and clients supported by ARMA.
