Margaret Shannon
General Manager, Ballina Beach Village
M
argaret comes
from a very strong
hospitality and
tourism background having
completed a Bachelor of
Tourism and Marketing at
the University of Otago in
New Zealand, and then over
the course of fifteen years
worked her way up from
front line hotel operations to
management roles.
Her employment with
hotels such as Rydges, Accor
and Marriott has given
her a rich knowledge of
sales, marketing, revenue
management and customer
service.
During her time in the
holiday park industry she has
honed her skills and become
intricately involved in the operations, marketing and
business strategy of the parks she manages.
Margaret has also developed a reputation for
being able to create a positive team culture in
the workplace, development and implementation
of highly innovative and successful marketing
campaigns, and commitment to industry involvement
and collaboration.
These skills saw her increase business turnover
at her previous park by 43% and a 36% increase
in customer satisfaction over just three years. She is
now currently working on a
new project park at Ballina,
assisting the ownership team
with building occupancy and
business turnover.
Margaret’s varied
experience in corporate hotel
management roles has given
her the ability to research
processes, tourism trends and
external factors in the
caravan and tourism
industries, and then apply
these to the holiday park
setting in an almost intuitive
way.
Experience in digital and
online marketing processes
as well as her ability to
manage internal and external
stakeholder relationships
has seen her recognised for a
number of industry awards:
