Christophe Guinet, born in Paris, grew up in an
environment in which he always had contact with
nature. As a teenager, he developed a passion for all
plants, but especially orchids. He was attracted to
the gardening care they need as well as their beauty
and delicacy when bloomed. Other interests outside
of horticulture that Guinet enjoy include elements
of urban culture such as skating, street art, and
fashion.
In his latest project, “Just Grow It!” Guinet
shows his real desire to build poetic bridges between
nature and cult commercial products. He presents
iconic and must-have modern day products in a style
reminiscent of the detailed compositions by Giuseppe
Arcimboldo, who is a famous Italian painter best
known for painting imaginative portrait heads made
entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers,
fish, and books. Using a similar idea, Monsieur
Plant meshes pop-culture staple trends with nature
in his latest artistic project.
Paris doğumlu olan Christophe Guinet, doğa ile ilişkisini kaybetmeden büyüdü. Gençken bitkilere -özellikle de orkidelere- merak saldı. Orkidelerin ihtiyaç
duyduğu bakım ile çiçeklerinin güzelliği ve zarafeti
onu çok etkilemişti. Daha sonraları kaykay, sokak
sanatları ve modası gibi şehir kültüründeki faaliyetlere ilgi duymaya başladı.
Son projesi “Just Grow It!” (Yetiştir!) ile doğa
ve kült ticari ürünler arasında kurmak istediği şiirsel köprüleri göz önüne seriyor. Günümüzde pek çok
insan için ikonik ve mutlaka sahip olunması gereken
ürünler; meyve, sebze, çiçek, balık ve kitap gibi objelerle yaptığı hayali portrelerle ünlü İtalyan ressam
Giuseppe Arcimboldo’nun detaylı kompozisyonlarının tarzında sunuluyor. Bu projede Mösyö Bitki; kapitalist sembolleri ve trendleri, sanatını kullanarak
doğaya geri veriyor.
