Friday features fireworks, talent show
Fireworks will light up the sky and talent will light up the stage during Riverfest on Friday night, July 11.
The annual Riverfest Talent Showcase is one of the highlights of the festival on Friday, and is appropriate for all ages.
The talent show is held in the Monticello High School Auditorium and features instrumental, vocal, dance, comedy, piano, poetry, drama and more performed by individuals, groups, seniors, adults and students.
New this year, a panel of professionals will be judging the competition and handing out cash prizes to the winners. First place will take home $ 300, second place will score $ 200 and third place will pick up $ 100.
Auditorium doors open at 6:30 p. m., while the show starts at 7 p. m.
General admission tickets are $ 5 at the door, and children 5 and under are free. Seating is limited.
Festive fireworks
Grab your lawn chairs and favorite snacks and settle in for the annual Riverfest fireworks show, which will follow the talent show at dusk.
The fireworks will be set off around 10 p. m. between Eastview Education Center and Monticello High School. With this central location, there are many fantastic places for you to catch all the action.
Spectators can sit south of the softball fields. Parking is available at the high school and Eastview, as well as Resurrection Lutheran Church, located at 9300 Jason Ave. NE.
Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. No spectators will be allowed in the football or track facilities.
