The individual should be/have been a River
Heights Chamber member in good standing,
with a minimum of 10 years as a Chamber
member, been an active participant in the
business or local communities of the River
Heights area, contributed to the betterment
of human endeavor and life in the State of
Minnesota and our local area through the
creation of quality jobs and development
opportunities for employees, demonstrated
personal and business ethical qualities
including dedication to family, community,
the environment, and the private enterprise
system, as well as demonstrated qualities of
entrepreneurship by organizing, developing
or managing a successful business
enterprise in our business community.
Swenson Family accepts 2019 Forrest Glewwe Visions
of Excellence Award in memory of Carol Swenson
These honored recipients have applied
themselves completely to the principles
of entrepreneurship, ethics and corporate
citizenship. Nominations and applications
are due in the fall for this award given out at
the beginning of the next year at the River
Heights Chamber of Commerce’s Annual
Meeting.
Joe Harms, owner of Mississippi Pub, awarded
2020 Small Business of the Year Award
following: committees, meetings & events or
sponsorships and fundraising. The business
must also demonstrate commitment to the
community through its involvement with the
community and assistance to community
organizations (including but not limited to
the River Heights Chamber of Commerce),
commitment to its employees, suppliers
and customer relationships, in addition to,
a commitment to excellence in service,
business ethics, friendliness and business
operations. Nominations and applications are
due in February for this award given out at
the Annual Small Business Award event in the
spring.
The Rising Star Award (also may be given
as a Volunteer of the Year Award) has been
given out to an individual River Heights
Chamber member volunteer since 1995. The
individual must have provided new leadership
in numerous positions within the past two
years, be an involved, professional leader
(vs. an involved participant), and must have
provided guidance and leadership within
the community and River Heights Chamber
of Commerce committees and/or events.
Nominations and applications are due in the
fall for this award given out at the beginning
of the next year at the River Heights Chamber
of Commerce’s Annual Meeting.
Town Square Television received 2020 Employer
of the Year for People with Disabilities Award - In
partnership with the Dakota County Workforce
Investment Board
In 2020, the River Heights Chamber partnered
with the Dakota Scott Workforce Investment
Board to award it’s first ever Employer of the
Year for People with Disabilities Award.
The award is given to a business in the
River Heights region that recognizes a local
business for the work they do in employing
workers with disabilities. The business
understands the value of this dedicated
workforce and creates a space where the
employees look forward to working.
The Small Business of the Year Award has
been given out to a deserving business in the
River Heights region since 1989. The award
recognizes a River Heights Chamber member
organization that has been in business for
a minimum of FIVE years, has 20 or fewer
employees (including full-part-time) and has
at least TWO years of membership in the River
Heights Chamber. The business must be in
good standing and an involved participant in
the River Heights Chamber through any of the
2019 Rising Star, Heidi Satre,
former Chamber Ambassador Chair
