THANK YOU NOTE

A Note From

Michael Oster,

Director Of The Center For Sales Leadership & Education,

University Of Minnesota Twin Cities

I would like to thank Jay & Nesbit Agencies for the opportunity to showcase the Center for Sales Leadership & Education( CSLE) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in this magazine! Here at CSLE, we are always looking for support to spread the message of our mission!

For most of you, the Sales Center is something that you may never have heard of. But Jay and other members of the Nesbit team spent time this semester helping CSLE students make waves this year with a focus on experiential learning, employer engagement, and creating fantastic spaces for the future sales, marketing, and human resource students we teach.
So, what is CSLE, and how has Nesbit Agencies made a difference in the lives of so many young people? CSLE was an idea created almost 10 years ago to help educate and propel the sales profession as a whole. We understand that students who want to get into sales as a profession will need to be taught with the most cutting-edge ideas and be given help in defining their path after graduation. One central goal of our unit is to answer the concern we hear many times from employers through research and through daily conversations who say today’ s college graduates are just not prepared to find their way in the“ real world.” They lack the drive, the communication skills, the problem-solving, and the experience to hit the ground running in an everchanging and fast-paced world. At CSLE, we try to take this challenge head-on and create spaces where we can address all of these concerns and begin to shape a student who will be more prepared and more confident as they begin their career in the business world.
How do we achieve this? CSLE is a laboratory where real-time practical experiences along with classroom support from our members, like Nesbit Agencies, carve out time and space for the students to try new things they have learned, showcase their talents in organization, problem solve, handle concerns, and get in step with consumers and buyers for the benefit of making change and creating solutions.
From classroom to competition, our students continue to prove why Minnesota is a rising force in collegiate sales education. This spring, students in the Sales Practicum course worked directly with real companies on real-world selling challenges. Students gained hands-on experience that translates directly to sales roles post-graduation
The Sales Center proudly welcomes new corporate partners, expanding internship and job opportunities for our students. These partnerships offer more than recruiting— they’ re a chance for businesses to shape the future of sales by mentoring and collaborating with top talent.
This summer, we’ re piloting a new sales training bootcamp designed to get students internship-ready. CSLE is also working at the grassroots level with Minneapolis Public Schools to create a space where these students can begin to learn and grow in our ideas and the mission we set out to accomplish. This mission: to connect students, faculty, and industry through world-class sales education.
Are you an alum, employer, or supporter looking to connect with the Sales Center? We’ d love to hear from you. Whether you want to guest lecture, hire a student, or sponsor an event, there’ s a place for you in our growing community. Please reach out to me directly at oster398 @ umn. edu. +
