I was reflecting on this recently when I judged a virtual sales competition hosted by the University of Minnesota . Students from around the country were tasked with gaining a commitment from a prospect to purchase insurance from them . The key to success was building a personal connection with the prospect in a short amount of time while also earning their trust and confidence . To make this happen , it was essential to show a genuine interest in understanding the problems prospect faced and then presenting a solution that best addressed their needs and concerns . So often in life , we strive to get the result we want as quickly as possible . This rarely results in building the long-term relationships that are essential for success in business and in our personal lives .
I believe we owe much of our success at Nesbit Agencies to taking this approach with our employees and customers . This is one of the reasons we like to shine a light on one of our customers in each issue of Risk & Business Magazine .
