R & Titan Trailers B A McFarlan Rowlands Client-Feature BY: JOHN FACEY, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS INTERN, MCFARLAN ROWLANDS I ncorporated in 1979, Titan Trailers has focused on quality design and problem solving from day 1. Titan Trailers began in earnest in 1973 when Michael Kloepfer built the first Titan Trailer, a hopper, for the local agricultural market. Prior to incorporating the company, he had been building trailers for use on the family farm and, once he found the market favorable in the local area, the business was born. The original hopper trailers were used to haul grain to elevators. They were differentiated from the standard dump trailers which were in use at the time by allowing both greater volumes to be hauled and providing a higher level of safety. Dump trailers were notoriously unstable unless they were unloaded under perfect conditions, which was a problem that Michael was able to solve. From that initial start in a family farm shed, Titan Trailers has grown from 4 employees to over 220 employees. They now utilize state of the art manufacturing facilities and export their brand of trailers all over the world. The primary production facility includes robotic welding systems, computer modeling systems and a complete gamut of fabrication equipment. The trailers that they make have shifted from a focus on agricultural applications to a variety of industries, most importantly the waste hauling industry. T H\X
