WELCOME
Welcome to our fall issue of McFarlan Rowlands Risk & Business
Magazine. We’re officially in the thick of the autumn season, and
by now, we’ve all noticed the leaves changing colour and the days
getting cooler.
We here at McFarlan Rowlands were happy to take some time to
spend Thanksgiving with our families to celebrate the harvest
season. When we think of Thanksgiving and its connection to the
fall harvest, we are thankful to be living in southwestern Ontario
where high-quality food is produced by farmers who devote their
lives to providing for our society. Take a short drive out of the city
and you’ll find yourself making your way among the farms and
fields that we are lucky to have so abundantly at hand.
In this issue we’re featuring one of our clients, the Doornenbal
family and their dairy farm operation, Sancor Farms. You might
be surprised when you read about new technology that has been
adopted in the agricultural industry to help farmers manage
the quantity of milk that is needed to sustain our society. And as
farming advances, we are proud to be one of the largest and most
progressive insurance brokerages in Ontario that manages farm
and agri-business risk.
As always, we enjoy keeping busy at McFarlan Rowlands, which
involves ensuring our business continues to be independent and
relevant in an ever-changing marketplace. We are continually
looking to grow and strengthen our presence in our trading area. To
that end, we have a new office in Sarnia with the addition of Callister
Musico Insurance Group in July. We are pleased to welcome the
entire team at Callister Musico into McFarlan Rowlands and look
forward to expanding in the Sarnia area.
A pillar of the McFarlan Rowlands brand is providing personalised
service to our clients by being flexible enough to meet each and every
one of their needs. The creation of our Small Business Unit in 2016
is a step in that direction. Our Small Business Unit focuses only on
small business risks. With this focus, we ensure that the special needs
of a small business are addressed. Furthermore, it allows us to provide
superior service and advice for this select group of commercial clients
as well as setting us apart from the competition.
This is just a taste of what you will read in the pages to come. As
always, I invite you to call any one of our locations to speak with our
knowledgeable brokers in your area or visit us online.

Rodney Hancock, CEO
