Valley of the Sun YMCA
Community & Corporate Services
BY: ODETTE BAKKER, OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, CORPORATE WELLNESS, VALLEY OF THE SUN YMCA
Corporate Wellness Program
As a community-centered non-profit, the
Valley of the Sun YMCA is a perfect fit for
businesses, organizations, and human
resource professionals looking to care of
their workplace family. The Y’s Corporate
Wellness Program serves organizations
of all sizes. From a small business with
less than 10 employees to government
agencies and educational institutions
of thousands, the YMCA understands
wellness is about more than just a
membership.
When employees are educated on health
and wellness, they perform better at
work and in their community.
Employees work an average of 7.56
hours per day leaving limited time for
attention to their own well-being. The
Corporate Wellness Program provides
the framework to encourage health both
inside and outside the workplace.
W
hen was the last time you visited
a branch of the Valley of the Sun
YMCA? A lot may have changed.
Since 1892 the YMCA has served Arizona
communities, but it’s more than swim
lessons for kids or a gym for mom and
dad. More than 100,000 families benefit
annually from their programs that focus
on three key areas: youth development,
healthy living and social responsibility.
The program is designed to improve
employee health risks by promoting,
guiding and reinforcing preventative
choices. It’s a place where its workforce
and their families learn how to live a
healthier lifestyle and where they engage
in programs that promote the balancing
mind, body and soul.
In addition to full valley-wide facility
membership, employers can select from a
Wellness Offering Menu that includes:
The Y is for EVERYONE. As one of
the oldest nonprofits in the state, in
2016, the YMCA will enter its 125th year
of serving Arizona families and will
continue its legacy of enabling kids to
realize their potential; preparing teens
for college; offering ways for families to
have fun together; empowering people
to be healthier in mind, body and spirit;
preparing people for employment;
welcoming and embracing newcomers;
helping foster a nationwide service ethic
and so much more in their programs,
services and initiatives.
